Hiring Trends Among Creator Economy Startups: Here’s What Made It Big in 2024

As we start bidding farewell to 2024, we thought it would be interesting to glance over the hiring trends among this year’s creator economy startups. This can really provide a lot of insights related to the current state of the industry.

Thanks to Creator Economy Jobs, we’ve got an analysis of more than 600 firms for this year and it’s no surprise that the results prove that Silicon Valley still has the biggest grip on the world of creator economy. Meanwhile, London continued to prove that it’s the next big hub in this domain.

Contrary to what many people feel, being a creator by profession is not the sole way to enter this field. The job listings platform shared how many startups were not only hiring for the post of a creator but also for sales, marketing, engineering, and even products.

The creator economy felt great vibes coming forward and a high energy as explained by one leading investor and advisor for different creator startups. Since its launch in 2023, the platform managed to pool in a whopping 1,000 job listings from various creator economy firms every quarter.

The job site pulled in listings from different third-party-owned platforms including various applicant tracking systems. This includes LinkedIn and even Greenhouse & Lever. Some firms got job listings through the site directly.

Many big tech and startups negatively impacted the creator economy with the long list of layoffs in the past couple of years. Now, things look more promising. Predictions for 2025 include companies emerging as strong contenders with team expansion and hiring. This might prove to be very true as different creator startups continue to raise millions this year. Many are even pouring out their intentions to hire.

Another major trend expected to make it big in 2025 is corporate firms hiring more creators to complete in-house roles. We’ve jotted down other key takeaways worth a mention.

For starters, the most in-demand roles in creator economy startups have to be for engineers. Most companies are software bases and that’s exactly where these professionals step in. Since the start of Q2, there’s been a massive demand for engineering roles, rising up to 500 QoQ. Sales came in second while marketing rounded up the top three list.

Secondly, Silicon Valley has the greatest hold when we consider the creator economy. At first, it was San Francisco but Los Angeles tops the list thanks to the growing figures of startups popping up in the Silicon Valley area.

New York City is another hot destination for American job markets while international cities like London, Berlin, and Bangkok made it a huge hub for jobs. Today, the international market is making it big and really growing at large. The creator economy is a huge worldwide phenomenon and people are living anywhere and everywhere, building great businesses around the world.

London is the place to look out for, the report adds as it could soon take over Silicon Valley as the best and biggest creator economy location.

Moving on to the top six firms where the greatest active job listers were found this year, tech giant platforms such as Pinterest, TikTok, and Meta had the most active job listers but they were not a part of the list.

The list featured those who constantly rolled out new job listings throughout the year for the creator economy. As per the data published, they included a monetization app for digital goods and services - Coda Payments, Video AI giant Eleven Labs, and affiliate marketing firm Impact.com.

Content editor Lightricks, podcast giant Podimo, and live-shopping firm Whatnot were also included in the top six.
